why Space city?
Houston is lovingly known as Space City thanks to our NASA roots, but for us, it means even more. Space symbolizes curiosity, exploration, and bold new frontiers, which are values that guide both the work we do with clients and the growth we pursue in ourselves.
We practice from a weight-neutral philosophy, meaning we do not focus on weight loss as a primary outcome. Often, targeted weight loss is unsuccessful in the long run and creates a host of other problems.
Instead, we focus on improving other things we can be sure will have a positive effect on your health, such as improving your relationship with food, getting back in touch with body cues of hunger and fullness, and exploring your relationship with exercise.
This stance is officially called Health At Every Size, and you can read more about it here.
We also practice from an LGBTQ+ affirming, anti-racist, neurodiversity-affirming lens. We value the autonomy and consent of each client and are committed to unlearning our own biases as we stand in solidarity with marginalized groups.

FAQs
-
Most clients meet weekly or bi-weekly with us for 3-4 months and after this may taper down to less frequent sessions and eventually stop seeing us. However, it’s also normal to have sessions for a much longer time. We will make a plan based on your individual needs.
-
We take insurance! However, if we don’t accept your insurance or your insurance does not cover sessions, the price is $150 for a 50-minute session and $90 for a 25-minute follow-up. All first sessions are required to be 50 minutes.
We also offer reduced rates based on financial need. Fill out the contact form here to inquire.
-
We operate from a weight-neutral perspective and do not target weight loss as a goal of nutrition sessions. However, we understand many clients have concerns about their weight, and this is a topic we will absolutely explore in sessions. Go here for more about this approach.
We often see clients who have health conditions such as PCOS, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, celiac disease, GERD, etc. We will incorporate research-based nutrition approaches for managing your health condition while working to improving your relationship with food and your body.

Sessions that are missed or cancelled fewer than 24 hours prior to session time will incur a fee of $60/50-minute appointment and $30/25-minute appointment. Insurance does not pay for late cancellations or missed sessions. All clients are required to keep a credit card on file in case of no show/late cancellation charges. We understand emergencies happen, and will evaluate these on a case-by-case basis.
